At Rennen Imports Inc. because our part warranty is typically longer than the manufacturer's warranty we prefer
OE or OEM OES.
OE, OEM, OES, AFTERMARKET, OR CUSTOMER SUPPLIED PARTS?
At Rennen Imports Inc., we use a combination of OE, OEM, OES, and Aftermarket Parts. There are many reasons for our use of a particular parts source:
OE, typically car manufacturers make the body, frame, and major engine components. The rest they sub-contract out to parts manufacturers who produce these components according to the manufacturer specifications, add the logo and ship it to the car manufacturer.
OEM/OES, often the quality is the same as the OE parts, but are less expensive and quicker to obtain. OEM/OES parts are less expensive because they do not go through the car manufacturer’s complex parts system. Every time that an OE parts goes through a depot, warehouse, or dealership there is a little more money added to the cost of the part. OEM/OES do not go through this process; buyers get them directly from the manufacturer, ship them to local warehouses and then distribute them on demand to independent automotive repair shops keeping prices down.
Aftermarket Parts, Often times parts suppliers have re-engineered
original equipment to increase interval failure rates to outperform manufacturer specifications. For example, Bilstein is an OEM/OES supplier, but they also offer aftermarket parts. Their HD struts/shocks are original equipment, but their Sport struts/shocks and suspension kits are not made to OE specifications and are arguably better than OE.
Customer Supplied Parts, made to replicate the look and feel of the OE part at the sacrifice of quality. We do not warranty customer-supplied parts because the internet has increased the availability without a means of tracing their origin. We will never use counterfeit parts. Our aftermarket parts dealers are industry leading suppliers who guarantee their parts.
